On Thursday 8th December, we were visited by popular children's author Jack Trelawny. Most of us dressed as pirates for the day as they are a main theme through the six books in his Kernowland series.
Jack delivered a presentation to the whole school, and shared his inspirations for writing. He also shared how he created ideas for characters, settings and stories. He explained how he used pictures to inspire him, and from those pictures, he would ask himself questions. Upon answering those questions, he would use his imagination to create his stories. Also, he explained how he would create a "story house" - and there, he would store his ideas. These ideas would result from asking the questions: WHO? WHERE? WHAT? and WHEN?
Overall, the children found Jack's visit and presentation entertaining and informative and they were all totally engaged throughout. After his presentation, children were able to ask him questions and then, finally, before he departed, he signed books for children who had pre-ordered them.
For those children who did not pre-order his books, a form will be sent home shortly which will enable families to order copies directly from the publisher, and these will be signed by Jack before they are delivered to you.
