It is with regret that we announce that our school remains closed on Friday (02/03/2018) due to treasurous conditions.
We hope to be back to normal by the beginning of next week. However, please check our website on Sunday for further updates.
After much consideration, heavy snow overnight and continuing difficult road conditions we have decided to remain closed on 01/03/2018.
This decision has not been taken lightly, however, must be made to ensure the safety of all children and staff.
Thank you for your understanding and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Just look at this site. The perfect layer of snow surrounds our school today. Snowmen were built and the children had lots of fun playing in this white, fluffy delight.

The pupils of Great Clacton C of E Junior School (also known as ‘The workforce of tomorrow’) had the opportunity to take part in the first ever careers fair.
Professionals from many different businesses came to share their knowledge about their jobs, so the children could find out what may lie ahead for them.
Some of these careers included: Fire fighters, Nurses, A Scientist, Engineer, Train drivers and your everyday ASDA Worker!
Overall the children were surprised at how many different jobs were available and found the event very inspirational!
This week Year 3 had a wonderful time finding out about ancient Egypt at Ipswich Museum. Some of the activities included: handling real life Egyptian artefacts that were several thousand years old, making amulets and shabtis out of clay, learning how mummies were made in the Egyptian Gallery and creating our own Egyptian Gods.

We planned out den-day to introduce our pupils to outdoor learning and the Geography curriculum. Each class spent half a day building dens outside with smores (marshmallows in biscuits) provided around a campfire and the other half a day doing orienteering and map reading exercises which also included hot chocolate. They loved it!
Everyone learned loads about working together and the wider environment and the behaviour was superb. We hope to hold more outdoor learning days in the future.
