As you know, World Book Day is a day set aside for all of us to celebrate our love of books. In the UK, it always takes place on the first Thursday of March. In order for us to celebrate this, all of the children (and staff) dressed up as our favourite characters from books.
During our whole-school assembly, we also shared ideas about books we have enjoyed reading, and talked about why books are so important. We also discussed recommending books we have enjoyed to other people.
Throughout the day, all classes have been immersed in a variety of activities linked to books and reading. And, finally, each child received a World Book Day book token to enable them to purchase a brand new book of their own. Overall, the children seem to have really enjoyed celebrating the joy of reading and the pleasure of books.
